I have decided that Penelopoppy is training to be in the Olympics and her favorite time to train is any time between 10pm and 6:30 am. Two nights ago we went to bed at about 10:00. I got so comfy and was about to fall asleep when boom: baby woke up.
She was all over the place! I finally ignored her and did my best to fall asleep. Duffy left for work just before 5 the next morning and, like he does every morning, he gave me a kiss goodbye. Apparently Penelopoppy was jealous that SHE didn’t get a kiss goodbye as well and decided to take out her frustration by training some more. At 5:45 she was still practicing the back stroke. At 6am, she was on to vaulting. It was about 6:30 when our little athlete finally settled down and I finally got back to sleep.
Later that day we had a doctor’s appointment. The appointment was scheduled for 11:00 and it was the one where they test for gestational diabetes. For you Moms, you know what that means. I had to drink the sugar drink. Bleh. I held my nose and drank the yucky swill. From that point, I had to wait an hour to have my blood work done, during which time I would see Cristi, our baby doc.

25 week baby bump. |
We love our time with Cristi at Women’s Medical Center. She’s a real hoot. When we went back to see her this time, we were anxious to hear little Penelopoppy’s heartbeat. Let me tell you, baby girl wasn’t having it! She was all over my stomach. Whenever Christi would put the Doppler over my stomach, our little Olympian would move away from it quickly. You could see my stomach moving all over the place. It took Cristi a few minutes to get the heartbeat because Penelopoppy wouldn’t stay still. It was really quite funny.
Cristi said she hadn’t seen a baby that was this active in a long time. Then she just started laughing and said, “I’m laughing because I don’t have to raise her.” Our little miracle baby already has such a personality, and she is proving to be very stubborn already. I don’t know where in the world she gets that from! Yes, that was sarcasm.

It may look like I'm "framing" my belly with my hands. I'm not. I'm trying to keep Penelopoppy from jumping right out of there. LOL. |
