We went back and forth on the question of when we wanted to tell the kids about the pregnancy. Should we tell them right away or wait until after the first ultrasound? We knew we wanted to wait to tell everyone else, including family, but we decided tonight is the night to bring our kids in on the secret. All three of our kids are great, we’re very blessed. I’ll never forget their reaction to our exciting news…
At about 8pm, we decided to call a “family meeting” at the kitchen table. Heck, all of our best conversations happen at our kitchen table. We sat them down and just told them EVERYTHING. They didn’t know Duffy had had surgery. They didn’t know we were even wanting to have another baby! Of course when we told them they were all very shocked.

Kelsey was so excited |
They asked questions that we knew they would ask, and some that threw us off guard a little. But, overall they were shocked and VERY excited. The most memorable moment from tonight was when Kelsey started crying. I mean she was really bawling. The kind of cry that had her losing her breath. Duffy and I were both thinking the same thing: she is upset because she won’t be the youngest anymore. So Duffy asked her why she was crying. I still get goosebumps thinking about her reply. This sweet, little 11-year-old said, “I’m not sad at all. I’m just so excited! I have wanted this for so long.”
(Sniffle) That was a priceless moment.

Who could ask for better kids. I'm so happy that I get to experience this with them. There is definitely room for one more Nerf Warrior in the Moon House! |
