Is She A Baby Or An Olympian...

I have decided that Penelopoppy is training to be in the Olympics and her favorite time to train is any time between 10pm and 6:30 am. Two nights ago we went to bed at about 10:00. I got so comfy and was about to fall asleep when boom: baby woke up.

Even Daddy Doesn't Mind Shopping...

This past weekend Duffy and I had to go to Albuquerque. We hadn’t really bought anything for Penelopoppy so we decided to go to Carters and pick out a few outfits together. If you are a parent of an infant or toddler and haven’t gone to that store, you need to. The prices are very reasonable and their sales are amazing....

And Bear Did The Cha, Cha, Cha...

I know, I’ve gotten so far behind on my updates. Sorry, we have been crazy busy over the last few weeks. I think things are finally slowing down so I should be back to it on a regular basis.  In the past few weeks I have realized how loved Penelopoppy (nooo, she still doesn’t have a name) is, especially by her siblings...

So, Is It A Sister Or A Mister...

Today was the big day! I’m happy to announce that the baby is healthy and developing just like it should. Everything looks great. Oh yeah, we also found out if this baby is a sister or a mister!  That, of course, is the question that everyone wants to know.  So, the answer is…

One Says "Boy", The Rest Say...

Tomorrow is the BIG day! Tomorrow we will find out if we’ll be buying pink or blue and I cannot wait! Duffy and I are both predicting that it’s a girl. I can’t explain why but when I think of our little Penelopoppy, I think of a girl. Of course, we’ll be happy either way, but girl is what we’re thinking. I’ve asked my kids what their predictions are and they are a bit mixed…

But The Thermometer Said 57 Degrees...

They say when you are pregnant you become very forgetful and pretty much lose your mind. This is called “placenta brain”.  Scientifically they say it happens because the brain shrinks 3-5% during pregnancy, or there is the theory that it is caused by hormones during pregnancy. Others believe that it is just a period of time where the mother-to-be is reflecting inward and the introspection and problem solving of the future is what causes the mental fuzziness. Huh?  No one can really tell you what causes it, but it really does happen.  Ask every pregnant woman who is losing her mind, or screwing up dinner. Like ME, for example…

And It Happened, Just A Little Flutter...

Last night was an amazing night. I finally felt Peneloppy move!  It was so surreal.  It all happened after Duffy and I went to bed and we were just lying there, talking about this and that.  All of a sudden, faloomp!  I was so excited and I wanted Duffy to feel it too.  Penelopoppy, however, had different plans…

My Cup Runneth Over...

This week I don’t have any pregnancy stories.  It’s true: I didn’t have any major breakdowns or any new experiences. I did however; watch our oldest daughter graduate from high school and our youngest daughter graduate from 6th grade. Dylan will be starting 8th grade next year. Watching the three of them grow is so awesome and so sad all at the same time…

And The Baby Will Sleep In...

My mother and father-in-law had us over for dinner last night.  Dinner was great, but the surprise they had waiting for us is the reason I decided to blog about it.  As I’ve mentioned on here, Duffy and I are pretty much starting from scratch.  Our oldest is 18 now and our current youngest is 12.  So, we pretty much need EVERYTHING.  What my in-laws had in store for us was really, really sweet...

It Was Mission Impossible: Hotel BaƱo...

What a great weekend this turned out to be.  It started out with a trip to Albuquerque, with the whole family, for Maddie’s State Track Meet.  It ended with a wonderful Mother’s Day.  It was kinda surreal celebrating Mother’s Day with my “four” kids!  You know, the three older ones that spent the day spoiling me and the little tiny one that spent the day safe and sound with me.  It all started in ABQ…

I Just Wanted A McMuffin...

Today, I was extremely embarrassed when my hormones got the best of me. I have been eating healthy, as to not gain too much weight, but this morning I was running late and I was hungry. I heard Duffy and Steve talking about egg white McMuffins. When I was training with OC at Bodies in Motion, he talked about them too. So, I thought that would be a perfect breakfast.  Oh, and I could also get an ice tea…

My First 5K At 15 Weeks...

I am 15 weeks today and I had an amazing morning. I ran my first 5k. I took up running (okay, it’s more like jogging) about a year ago. My goal was to run a 5k, which isn’t far, but it was a good goal.  My original plan was to run one back in February, but after hurting my tailbone skiing I was unable to do so. Today, I succeeded.

Is That A Hamburger Or A Hotdog...

Today, we had a great appointment at Women’s Medical Center. It was crazy because both of us were having a really hectic day and our appointment was scheduled for late in the afternoon.  I was done working, but Duffy had to be at an event for the radio station and he was really worried that he would miss part of the appointment, the important part, hearing the baby’s heartbeat...

I Think I'm Carrying In My Butt...

This week, I learned something that I am shocked I didn’t learn at a younger age. I always thought that every pregnancy was the same and that every woman carried the same way. As I put on my shorts yesterday, the same shorts that fit perfect two weeks ago, I learned that all pregnancies are NOT the same.  Some women carry high, some women carry low and some carry the baby…

What's Wrong With Mustard, On Your Pizza...

Two months, that is about how long I have until we find out if angel baby will wear dresses or suits, and I can’t wait. I haven’t bought anything for Penelopoppy and I’m getting so anxious. Will I be buying pink or blue?  Ribbons or caps?  Action figures or dollies?  One thing is for sure…

12 Weeks: Baby's First Prank...

I am finally in my last week of my first trimester. I have to say it has gone really well so far. I am looking forward to the next trimester, so many exciting things. We get to find out the sex of the baby; I’ll start to feel the baby move; and I’ll finally get a baby bump. Although my family seems to think I’ve got that covered…

Baby's First Radio Station T-Shirt...

There are sooo many things for us to figure out before October 27th (ish).  Some of the biggies are:  what will we name our new one, where to put the nursery, can we find a nanny?  It's easy to get overwhelmed with all the necessities.  But then, I just look at that little "teddy bear" picture and it all seems OK.  The good news is, Penelopoppy already has the beginnings of a wardrobe...

Underpants: They Have SO Many Uses...

I have learned very quickly that hormones absolutely take you on an emotional roller coaster ride, without a safety harness!  It all started this morning when I had a wardrobe malfunction. Well, I don’t know if it was an actual “malfunction”.  It was more like a sudden, unwelcomed, unexpected wardrobe “issue”. Every woman has those days where you have nothing to wear. This was one of those days…

I Couldn't Wait To Tell Mimi...

It has been a VERY busy, and exciting, Easter weekend.  There is a group of people that I wanted to make sure I told before they heard about it on the radio.  So, I have officially told everyone who needs to be told before the show tomorrow. Today started with a call to my grandparents…

My Mom Said, "I'm Not Pregnant"...

Boy, this day has been long, but it has been absolutely awesome.  After we finished breakfast we drove to Albuquerque to have lunch with my mom and sister. Little did they know, we were about to spring our big news on them as well.  They thought we were just getting together for a bourbon butter burger at the Standard Diner!  In reality, we were there for something much more special…

And She Said, "Oh My Gawwwwd"...

Today was a busy and exciting day. Today was the day we finally told our parents about little Penelopoppy. Well half of our parents, anyhow. Duffy had called his dad in Utah and told him on Wednesday. I can’t really repeat that conversation, hahaha. Mike, Duffy’s Dad, was very excited for us. I really wish we could have told him in person.  We WERE able to tell my in-laws and my mom in person…

10 Weeks: Look At The Little Teddy Bear...

Today was an AMAZING day. We finally got to see our little angel baby. Penelpoppy is great and already a very active little one. Our ultrasound appointment was at Women’s Medical Center in Clovis.  Everyone there has been really nice. Paula was our ultrasound expert and it didn’t take her long to realize that I had followed the instructions given to me VERY well…

9 Weeks: They Will Be Cousins In Crime...

Today Duffy and I went to Amarillo for our daughter’s track meet. After the meet we headed over to the mall shop at Motherhood. I’m not showing yet and can still wear my regular clothes, but since we don’t have a place in Clovis to buy maternity clothes, I decided to pick some up. I will say that maternity clothes are a lot cuter now than they were the first time I was pregnant.  Of course, that was 12 years ago!  I found some cute things to get me started…

7 Weeks: Is It Too Early To Tell...

Duffy and I don’t really care what the sex of the baby is. Yeah right, that’s what everyone says!  Who are they kiddin’?  LOL.  Honestly, we ARE just happy that we are having a baby and we just want it to be healthy. But we would be lying if we said we didn’t hope for…

6 Weeks: And He/She Will Be Called Penelopoppy...

Penelopoppy:  that is Baby Moon’s new name. The name was given to this angel baby by its older brother and sister. Why Penelopoppy you ask?  The day before we told the kids I was pregnant, our son Dylan kept telling me he loved the name Penelope. He said if he ever had a girl that was what he was going to name her. Fast forward to the night we told the kids that I was pregnant.  After the shock and excitement died down a little, they began asking questions.  Kelsey, our daughter, asked what size the baby was…

It All Happens At The Kitchen Table...

We went back and forth on the question of when we wanted to tell the kids about the pregnancy.  Should we tell them right away or wait until after the first ultrasound? We knew we wanted to wait to tell everyone else, including family, but we decided tonight is the night to bring our kids in on the secret.  All three of our kids are great, we’re very blessed.  I’ll never forget their reaction to our exciting news…

I Officially Owe Duffy A Steak Dinner...

I’ve been telling Duffy for a few days that I am pretty sure we were successful this month. He didn’t think it could happen this fast after the surgery. I was convinced it could. Without going into too much detail, his “numbers” from the second follow up came back very high, just like last time.  He told me if it did work I owed him a steak dinner.  Well tonight, after having a complete emotional breakdown (which I blamed on hormones) we decided to test. Guess what…

PInch Me, This May Just Work...

It’s been two months since Duffy’s surgery.  Not just two months, but two interesting months. The procedure left him a bit sore for several weeks.  It was funny how completely oblivious our kids were during that time!  Duffy would sit on the couch with his snuggy (yeah, I said it, his snuggy) and underneath would be an ice pack firmly packed in his lap.  Maddie, Dylan, and Kelsey never questioned a thing.  Not even the fact that their Dad was suddenly wearing wind pants everywhere he went!  LOL.  He’s better now and we just got the results from our first follow up.  It was GOOD news…
